Who doesn't love gifts? Not just the gift, but the thought behind it. The best gift is the one that is totally unexpected. Gifts make us feel special,

and loved. It makes us feel that you are in other person's thoughts and they have put an effort in getting the appropriate gift for you.

I recently went to my home country. I had collected gifts for everyone and had filled two suitcases from gifts. I gave atleast 6 different items to everyone in the family. I have 3 sisters in law, 1 sister, 1 brother, 1 brother-in-law, my parents, my husband's parents and other people as well.

I love giving gifts, it makes me feel good to make others feel good.

With Christmas drawing near, many people will be collecting gifts.

Purses

With a vast variety of purses and bags out there, how do you decide what to choose? Depending upon the person you wish to buy it for. If you are buying for your mother, you can get a casual bag that will go

with the sandals she bought last month. For a friend, you can get a party purse or a bag that she can take to work. Or for a friend, who has a baby, you

can but a pretty diaper bag (not the one with cartoons on it)

2. Wallets / Card file

Leather wallet with names embedded on it can make a great gift. And a leather card file, in which a person can organize the credit card/student cards/ library cards etc makes a very useful gift as well.

3. Bath Sets / Gift sets

I love gift sets. Their packaging looks really impressive at most times. Choose the favourite brand of the person you're buying the gift

for. Bath sets normally include bath sponges, crèmes, shower gels etc.

4. Cosmetic Gift sets

Cosmetic sets, set of nail polishes, set of lipsticks,

eyeshades by Colour Institute, make great gifts as well. Also Manicure sets and Pedicure sets that include creams, soaks, washes and filers etc.

make useful gifts too.

5. Crockery

Crockery is more suitable for housewarming parties. However, most women love a good piece of crockery. A great variety to choose from, I personally love the tea sets, or soup sets..

6. Decorative items

Decorative items are also appropriate for housewarming

parties. Decorative items include candles, showpieces, crystal bowls etc. Or you can get candles with a some message written on it e.g. A special Friend is the one who............

7. Photo Frames/ Photo Gifts

Photo gifts are a great way to show that you care and can be given on any occasion. Enlarge the photo of the person you wish to buy the present for, and frame it. Or get it etched on a glass, (paper weight)

with a meaningful message e.g. To my best friend who's always been there for me, or To my father, my ideal etc. You can also buy magnets, cups, or tee

shirts with the person's photograph on it.

You can also create a collage effect these days, which looks very pretty.

8. Clothing items

Clothing items can include scarves, clothes, sweaters,

shirts etc. I always buy my mother clothes, since she likes them so much.

9. Scarf Pin / Broaches

There are very pretty scarf pins available these days.

10.Jewellery / Watches

Unless it's a very special occasion, and a very special person, buying gold wouldn't be possible. Buying imitation jewellery is also a great gift. Women in general, love jewellery. Get a Ring for your

friend or those Funky Earrings that you noticed, and your sister came into your mind. Or you can also get a delicate watch that looks like a bracelet.

Then again, why not get a bracelet?

11.Jewellery Box

Sorting through jewellery, and getting the right pair is quite difficult when you're getting ready for work, or for a party for that matter. A Jewellery box, that has compartments, lets you arrange the

jewellery can make a great gift. I recently got a jewellery box for myself, its made up of leather, and is a box with 3 drawers in it. I also bought

a jewellery box for my sister-in-law, that looks like a doll's cupboard, has 4 drawers, and one glass door that opens and where you can hang the chains, and beneath that, put your rings.

12.Books and Book marks

Books make the best present. Especially if it's the book that one wants to read, and gets it as a gift, it feels great.

You can buy a recipe book for the friend who loves to cook. Or you can buy a book on child care for the friend who's about to become a mother.

Or you can buy a book on self-help, or self-esteem, for the friend who suffers from low self-esteem.

Or you can buy a novel, for a friend who needs to relax.If you decide to give a book as a give, get a bookmark as well

13.Spectacles/Sunglasses

Getting Specs or Sunglasses can be a unique as well as a useful gift. However, it is difficult to decide what will suit another person, or if it will look good on them.

14.Wallet to hold Cell Phones

Beaded wallets to hold cell phones have become quite popular these days.

15.Chocolates

Chocolate boxes or simple chocolate bars are given as gifts on Valentine's Day. However, I think Chocolates are always welcome.

16.Electronic Items

Expensive, but are the most useful gifts. Laptop, Palm Top, Cell Phone, Curling Iron, Hair Straightener etc etc.
